Personally I wouldn't mind studying Copoeira
If you could learn one form of Martial arts?
Personally I wouldn't mind studying Copoeira
I actually did both Aikido and Ninjutsu for a bit. Ninjutsu was held by one of the Aikido masters, so it wasn't really about punching each other to shreds. It was really an eye-opener, both of them. If you find a good dojo, martial arts can be life-changing.
lol @ copoeira. dance like a fairy and get tired out but the fight even starts.
Muay Thai. Not that ufc bs. The kind that forces you to kill by crushing skulls in close range.
Well my family is from the islands which is why I'm interested in it, and obviously that's not how a fight would be initiated. It's a traditional practice though from when people were slaves and they had to hide the way of their practice by moving to the beat.
I've been in more than enough fights, I'm not trying to develop or change my fighting style. Which is why I refer to this as a martial art that I simply want to learn. I enjoy working out and being in shape as it is so I don't mind pushing my limits.
Nah I'm fine.
You say this as if I go around starting fights
This goes through the duration of my life including living in some terrible neighborhoods. You learn to survive without guns and without running. If someone had a issue with me we fought, and let it go. Mutual respect, there have been times where people I haven't known started trouble with me, I don't give them time to pull out weapons. I'm at the point in my life where I no longer fight every other day I've moved and matured.
Some gang bangers some aren't. Regardless, some of these gang bangers are smarter than you think. Also these conflicts are usually close encounters, it's hard to explain it unless you actually experienced it.
Probably karate, since that's what my brother did for like 7 years and I tried it out myself for a while. Seems like fun.

Muay Thai
It's a nice balance of striking like you would see in kickboxing, but then you get in nice and close to put an elbow or knee through the guy's head. I've learned a bit of boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and a little BJJ. I'm decent at being technical, but Muay Thai isn't like BJJ where you need to be super technical in order to make that discipline work for you.
jiu jitsu or Judo. Its nice to be able to kick and fight with your hands, but Those forms do nothing for you if you are fighing on the ground. If you get into a fight, you can take any it to the ground and its over.
I want a girl to know martial arts so she can beat me into submission in bed and dominate me.
Whoa. That sounds painful.
You need a guy :P
LOL!!!
Ha..
aikido
(no my answer is not too short :p )
any reason why?
I took some aikido classes in college. I like the idea of harmonizing with your attacker to use their energy against them. Learning to break falls is very useful.
I did aikido for quite a few years. I haven't had the free time to pursue it further for the past 3 years unfortunately, but I'm still an expert at rolling even on solid ground without it being painful, It's pretty neat. Having to be relaxed and not tense at all is actually quite healthy.
I only took aikido long enough to learn rolling. For me, learning to loosen up was the most difficult part of learning how to fall. But it's very helpful. My instructor survived a bad motorcycle accident because he knew how to break his fall so well.
JKD (Jeet kune do)
Because it is bloody as hell.
brazilian jiu jitsu because it's battle tested and works in the real world.
I want to learn Wing Chun. It's brutal.
Next Ip man? :o
Huh? lp?
You sir need to go on netflix and watch Ip man aha, he was Bruce Lee's teacher and a master of Wing chun.
Oh ok. Bruce Lee never learned all of Wing Chun so when he brought it to America he was teaching incomplete Wing Chun. Still my idol, but yeah. I'll do that.
Through out some of the movies, mostly the last one, it explains why it was incomplete but I think they are all pretty great movies. Especially the first
Krav Maga!
That would be awesome.
krav maga or wing chun or ninjutsu
I would like Aikido
seems useful when trouble calls
makes sense
Yeah, aikido isn't that great for self-defense, but it is really good for your body and soul.
