It's not normal for someone who exercises often. But if its someone who's inactive or hasn't been using the joint much, it's normal.
I used to have it when I did my squats. Every single rep makes a pop sound. But with properly spaced training, I think my nuscle and posture improved. It stopped cracking.
When I do my first pushup for the day, my elbows crack too. But that's only the first rep. I think because thr muscles and joints have warmed up.

Do stretching and warm up before and after workout.
Take some multivitamins , calcium tablet and glucosamine for a week or two.
Most likely your problem will be cured.
But seeing a doctor is always a best option but there's nothing to worry about. ☺

The same thing happens with my knees. I've never really had a problem with it, it's just something that happens. I'm not a doctor, but I'd say it's fine unless it starts to hurt.
My shoulder does the same thing.
Not sure what causes it lolIf its not causing you pain then its harmless. Its just synovial fluid in the joints.
Every time I bend down, I get this cracking sound in my knee. It's just a constant air bubble I haven't been able to get out permanently. That's probably what you have
