How do I deal with soar throat?

It's seriously a pain. I feel sick, got a headache, soar throat and I got a fever.

But my throat is the worst, is there any way to deal with this? I have tried most things, and nothing works for more then maybe 2 min.

A spoonful of honey, not only soothes but honey is good for helping fight infections and such. Live natural set yoghurt, even though it won't taste great you should drink the watery stuff that gathers at the sides, it's helped my tonsillitis abate with no antibiotics many a time. Apart from the yoghurt, try and avoid dairy products as they will cause mucus. Ginger tea is great for your body as well as helping with your breathing, as is steaming your head (bowl of very hot water, towel over your head and breathe deeply for a good ten minutes, put some Olbas Oil in of you have it, or something similar like menthol crystals). Stay hydrated, plenty of plain old water, if I have a scratchy throat though I drink a can of fizzy pop as it seems to help 'itch' my throat.

If nothing that anyone says here works for you, croxy, you may have Strept throat and need to see a doctor. Or you could just have the flu and with this, I always just buy NiteQuil and this helps with everything that I am feeling

Me neither... I have had this a few times in my life and it isn't fun.. keep an eye on it.. Try some of these helpful hint remedies, however, I just got over a bad cold myself, a cough and a sore throat and I swear by Nitequil to be sick with every time... Good luck, get well soon. xx

Oh, okay.. If you could find a friend to get his, you could be back up and running circles again in no time.. I was sooo sick Friday nite I had to go to bed with my Nitequil, Saturday I went shopping and felt like a fart in the mitt...:)) xx

Gargle salt water for 20 seconds twice. Do it every day/noon/night. Drink plenty of water, eat fruits and vegetables, dont take caffeine into your system it'll dehydrate you (no hot tea with honey or whatever and coffee)/eat regularly even if your appetites not all there. I don't take pain killers or allergy medication because I want my kidneys. Its better to endure and naturally subside the issues.

Dayquil and sucking on cough drops all day is the best thing I have found. I haven't found any better long lasting remedy.

Well, I don't know what you've tried already but here are a few things that works well for me when I have a sore throat.

-sore throat lozenges
-drink a warm beverage such as tea with honey
-a warm saltwater gargle (half a teaspoon of salt dissolved in one cup of water) several times a day
-take an anti-inflammatory such as aspirin, aleve, ibuprofen, etc. which will reduce the swelling and pain

Gargle with warm water and salt. Then have warm water with a 1 table spoon of honey and lemon or ginger. I heard ginger helps with sickness.

Trying honey lemon tea might work...
It's a simple recipe to make and only takes about 2-3 minutes.
It helps your throat to feel less pain and soothes your throat.
However, this tea does not work in an instant.
