She thinks he is.
Is there seriously anyone else out there who thinks he is the chosen one?
And, please, back it up.
Anakin IS the chosen one.
The way I sorta interpreted it was that Anakin was the chosen one who was supposed to bring balance to the force. It was never said what bring balance to the force actually meant. So when Anakin was younger before he turned to the dark side, the light side was far stronger and there were very few sith. Remember in episode 1 when all the jedi were so surprised that Darth Maul showed up. So by turning to the dark side that sorta helped to balance out the dark and the light. Although eventually most of the jedi were hunted down. In the original series there was only Vader on the dark side and probably some other sith that were not shown. And on the light side there was Luke, Obi Wan, and Yoda. And by the last movie there is only Vader and Luke. Seemingly a perfect balance between light and dark. When Luke kills vader the balance shifts back to the light side. I thinks it's really all open to interpretation, but to me that makes sense. And yes I am a huge star wars nerd.
Uhm, I'm glad to hear that you're a Star Wars nerd ;) Trust me, I am too d:
However, you know that Luked didn't kill Vader... Vader sacrificed himself to destroy the Emperor.
What? Now the way I saw it, go back and watch it again. Luke was pretty much beating down vader with his lightsaber. Then the emperor started force lightning Luke, Vader finally realizing that he had to save his son, grabs the emperor from behind and throws him into the pit. The emperor didn't harm vader at all, it was all the wounds from the lightsaber battle that killed him.
No.... The dark side of the Force, the lightening, you know? if you watch, Vader is totally consumed in it when he picks up the Emperor to throw him down the pit.
Whens that last time you watched the movie?!
Yes! Plus, Luke didn't even WANT to kill Vader. He believed there was good in him still, as Anakin, not as a Sith Lord.
I just went back and rewatched the fight. I've seen the movie plenty of times, and never once thought that the lightning was what killed him. Granted I watched it a ton as a kid and haven't seen it in a couple years. So my mistake. Still my whole theory about the balance of light and dark still holds up.
Lol, your theory is right d: Your memories were just off a bit d:
Anakin was supposed to be the chosen one. I know that bit for sure. "George Lucas himself has stated that Anakin is the Chosen One and that the prophecy is true, although Luke indirectly served as the catalyst that allowed Anakin to fulfill the prophecy"

Can I just say how awesome you guys are? Seriously... you're going to make some guy very happy. I wish my wife cared as much about Star Wars as I did... she's gotten very good about hiding her eye rolling, though.
Anyway... Anakin was the Chosen One. 1) Because GL says so and he wrote the story and 2) Anakin/Vader destroyed the ultimate Sith, Sidious, bringing balance to the Force. As mentioned previously, Luke was the catalyst, but Anakin brought the balance.
Lucas thought of "Balance" as being all Light Side... in the same way that Health is the absence of illness, Dark throws Light off balance. (Contrary to popular belief, Lucas does NOT subscribe to a Yin and Yang philosophy.)
Let me go onto say that he was say, the 'Co' Chosen One. If not for him, well, the saga would have ended differently.
No, Anakin was.
Luke merely helped him.
