Often, a person's metabolism slows down as they age. There are a few things you can do to help boost your metabolism and lose weight, if you aren't doing them already. Always eat breakfast. Eat small meals throughout the day, keeping your calorie count in mind. Drink a lot of water and get plenty of fiber to prevent bloating/water retention, flush the fat out of your body more quickly, and feel more full between meals. If you aren't always in the mood for water, try Crystal Light to-go packets that are low-calorie or some flavored herbal tea with no/minimal sweetener. When you're counting calories, don't round down too often, and be honest with yourself about portion sizes. Keep a log of what you're eating, if it helps; the "Foods" tab on FitDay.com is a great resource! Exercise both burns calories and boosts your metabolism, but switching things up helps even more--don't do the same exercises (or eat the same things) over and over again. Try weight-lifting; the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you're going to burn each day.
...If none of that helps, you could always try seeing a doctor. You could very well be experiencing some kind of thyroid issue or hormonal imbalance.
Good luck!
