This happens to me as well regardless of if I eat a huge feast or nothing at all. My solution for the past year has been a casein protein shake at night. Casein takes longer to digest so you won't get the hunger feeling during the night.
Casein is also found in milk so if the protein shake isn't for you then perhaps a glass of milk at night would help.

Mine does that all the time. I have no idea why, maybe you're hungry? Try drinking cold water when it happens it usually cures mind when it growls
That's hunger. Cravings aren't hunger so I guess it has very little to do with your period.
I don't think it's a question of why is your stomach rumbling but more why are you waking up. If I wake up in the middle of the night it's logical if my stomach rumbles. It's been many hours since I ate, we just normally sleep through it I guess.
Sounds like gas rumbling around inside, sweetie. If you are not hungry in the middle of the nite, then it sounds like this. You also mentioned your period had come on, so this also will cause some gas before and during. You said "lately." Are you sure it isn't "hunger pains?":))xx
this has happened to bme before too. a lot of people don't know this, but your body uses a lot of its energy when you're sleeping
i can't say why you're waking up in the wee hours of the morning, but the being hungry thing is wayy normal. just your body doing its job (:

This started happening to me more frequent when I began to go to university. I think it has something to do with stress. Like when we're stressed, some or most people turn to food. I guess when we get stressed over homeworks we need to finish, our stomach thinks we need to eat something. But this is just a theory though.
That happens to me right before I go to sleep, sometimes I just drink water. Enough to make my appetite go away but not SO much to wake me up during the middle of the night.
You might not be eating something filling. Perhaps consort a doctor rather than us.
