What are your thoughts on the Spider-woman "scandal"?

Basically there was an alternative cover made for an issue with some stunning artwork. People lost their minds because it was a women and she was in a "compromised solution.

My take is that they're trying to make an issue out of nothing. The art style is classic art work and spider man had the same pose in issue 30:

The revealing nature of her costume is also the same with male costumes. Basically how you draw comic art is that you draw a naked figure and just color in the costume over it.

Yeah--it's manufactured outrage once again. She's got basically a perfect female body, and certain people take issue with any depiction of a perfect female form because they think somehow that creates some kind of unfair pressure that they get off their fat asses and go to a gym. Yet at the same time, every male superhero ever drawn (Superman, Batman, He-Man) has a perfect male form, yet that doesn't seem to be a problem. You don't have all the skinny nerdy guys organizing to complain about "objectification" and "unfair expectations." Just a bunch of crap.

And DAMN does her ass look nice in that drawing! lol!

i think the whole discussion is just rediculous... if a man wears such clothes its normal but if a woman does, its objectifying all women and overly sexualizing as well as destroying all that feminist movement has achieved and whatnot... total overreaction.

Not objectifying. Its obvs the same basic drawing just done under the female form.

Depicting the female body or displaying it is not objectification and I wish people would realize that. Its only objectification when you say its all she is, claim ownership over it, etc

Yeah but as you see that's Dynamite comics and stuff. Different companies have different policies and right now we're looking at Marvel comics.

Different comics also are for different purposes. Are there also hentai and other explicit comics? Yes, and here's the other thing, men are equally as objectified in the comics as women.

The issue here is the Spiderwoman cover though. You're straying from the "controversy"

I just don't see the controversy. There are plenty of more revealing characters in the marvel universe. I'm pointing out that you will see way more revealing covers if you go into a comic book store. Unless you are ordering online, which I wonder why they would order it when they could chose the other cover instead of the spiderwoman issue if they have access to the other.

This kind of controversy isn't new. Males generally find the female body sexy, but not the male body, and male sexuality is being demonized. So people run around whining about double standards, and female objectification. It is complete nonsense. Anyone for actual equality, wouldn't have a problem with either gender being shown in this position.
