I'm a 34 yo straight man from Italy, I've started to wear ballet flats since a week, barefeet, because I found a Repetto-like pair in a vintage market about three months ago. They have plain flat soles, no heel, and really soft leather. Ballet flats are the most comfortable shoes I ever worn !!!
Unlucky I live in a small town near a middle-size city of north-Italy, and most of your opinions are not so common here. So I wear my flats only indoor or while driving, I'm not so proud to wear them outside, and my girlfriend don't know anything.
She wearing only flats beacuse she's quite tall and loves only confortable shoes like sneakers and ballerinas. Shes' very attractive and looking at her shoes I think "Its may be very comfy"... It's true but, really, it is impossible to wear them here without laughing or candid photos...

Who says you can't? I'm 27 years old now and have been wearing ballerina flats for Years now, I own 16 pairs now over my 3 pairs of men shoes, just make sure to match and look good, I usually wear black, but when I do wear a specific color I try to match it with my shirt or what ever top I'm wearing. Trust me no one cares and if they do they are to scare to say anything because they are not behind a computer. Wearing flats are also great conversation starter meet a lot of woman this way, they are not as self-centered as the internet would want you to think so just be yourself man you're not hurting anyone and be reassured that you're not alone, may not be common but there is men who wear them openly.
They are comfy, although I prefer low wedges because they fit the curve of my foot a little better. In ancient China, it was normal for men to wear shoes that were almost identical to our modern ballet flats. They were considered to be both practical and classy. In fact, they're still available today, and are sometimes worn on special occasions. link Looks like ballet flats, right? The ones for women were usually made of fancier patterned material and looked like this: link (I own a pair I bought in China.)
If you like ballet flats, I say go ahead and wear them. :) That being said, they're probably not a good idea to wear in a workplace/office.
After all the encouraging answers, there is one more that may be more sensible to ask/confirm: would a girl be allowed to be seen with her boyfriend while HE is the one wearing flats?
I have seen many supporting ladies (awesome) that quite retract when the above question is placed (not that awesome)
hey dude where what you want and don't give a damn about what others think about it! if you like wearing them then go right on ahead and wear them!

Hii there, you can wear whatever you want. I am also a straight guy in my mid-30´s and I wear ballets flats as my everyday shoes as I found them very practical and easy to slip on.
It takes time to find a pair of comfortable flats, but when you find it they are like slippers. Flats made of leather are the most comfortable and you avoid blisters and sweaty feet, more expensive shoes but much better quality and lasts longer.
I wear my flats without frills and in neutral colors, black, brown, beige and white and I match them with jeans and khakis and after wearing them for a while 80% of people doesn´t care or doesn´t notice.Life is too short so wear whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable. Good for you!Um... I guess it's just not really common to see guys in ballet flats. I personally won't judge you for what you want to wear, but it's like guys wearing heels. You know, to make themself taller. It's not generally accepted either.
Either way, even most girls don't wear ballet flats all over the place.
But if you want to wear ballet flats, go for it :) Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some 25-year-old dude came to class all year in his fuzzy zebra slippers. There are another two kids who walk around barefoot unless it snows (they got a doctors note saying that they could go barefoot inside). People don't really care what you're wearing (though people will notice if you start wearing heels).
really? Most I have a rather uncomfortable. I much prefer sneaker but they don't go well with dresses.
Idk, I can't imagine what they'd look like on guys. Why you can't wear them? Well simply because most men don't and it'd make you look weird. Fashion changes though, it used to be men who wore heels and it frowned upon for women to wear pantsI'm with you. I am a straight married male and I have been wearing plain black or brown ballet flats in public for the past three years. It started when I had an injury to the top of my foot and wearing mens shoes with the higher vamp was very painful. My wife suggested that I try a pair of plain ballet flats since these are lighter and lover cut then mens shoes. I went to the GAP and purchased a pair in womans black size 11 leather flats and was amazed how comfortable they felt. It was summertime and the flats were so much cooler to wear. I always wear them barefoot. Since that time, I have purchased several more pairs of ballet flats to the point where I actually have more flats than mens dress shoes. Since I usually wear them with jeans, people rarely notice that I'm wearing flats. If someone does, it's usually a positive reaction.
I have even written to the GAP suggesting that they make ballet flats form men in larger sizes.I have never in my life seen a straight man wear ballet flats. Try finding a men alternative. But it's your life do what you want.
it's looks so feminine in my opinion linkWell there are guys who actually dance ballet so why don't you ask them?
Common sense- If guys are allowed to dance ballet then, what makes you think that you don't have the right to wear ballet shoes?I think the first thing is that you may get comments, but that says more about that person than yourself. People are free to have their opinion. You just have to get past that, because people will cast judgement weather you like it or not.
You say you are not interested in cross dressing and write "womens" ballet flats. They are women's shoes, there is no air quotes about it. I think a lot of these questions have the purpose of normalising wearing them, or giving permission. That's fine and things may slowly change, but as things stand, it is what you say you're not interested in. It will seem a little strange to most.
But, saying that, if you are prepared for that, why not. On the whole though, most people will not care what you wear on your feet.Wear them if you want. I would actually describe a man who's wearing ballet flats as brave, not weird. And brave's good right?
Maybe you are just fashion forward and will start a new trend or men will revolt and you will be ostracised. Either way do what makes you happy and be comfortable. If you are secure in your manhood what is does it matter what other people think.
If youlike you can wear it though it is not common.i personally like ballet flats because they are so comfortable, my favorite brand is repetto , it is very steep in price though.
I see no issue with that, but I have to wonder where y'all are getting these "comfortable ballet flats" from because I've worn them before and they were awful. The most uncomfortable things I've ever worn. Including heels.
Lmao. That is so cute. Why don't you try the soda shoes that look like boats kinduve...? THEY can pass more like unisex shoes or if your a ballerino...jk(that's not even the name of a male ballet dancer)
It isn't gay to wear flats. I have over 40 pairs of flats and I have 1 box of men shoes because for work, I'm not going there with those! People who says it's gay just hate to see men wearing it and have negative behavior towards it.
I'll say go ahead! Spend your money on them! Nothing will be wrong! If someone calls you gay, just ignore them. They're being jealous. There's no law that says you can't, stop caring what people think.
Wear what you want..but know it won't go without notice.
I have no issue with you or the shoes bud as I love to wear them myself because they're super comfortable and with flat feet and 3 screws in each one I'd love to build support in this movement and make them more of a "male and unisex" runway item.
You can. However, like if a women decided to wear a penis, the opposite sex may not find it attractive.
It's depends on you planning to do ballet if not I logically don't understand why wear them that goes for women to.
Just don't step on a nail...
