Honestly- if the stuff isn't heavy and I don't need help, then I'll say no simply for that reason. It has nothing to do with being attracted to him (or not)- it's just generally that I was taught to carry my own stuff and rely on myself.
I suppose you might call it wanting to SEEM independent, but it's more that I AM independent and able to accomplish most things on my own. Don't get me wrong- I'll take the help if I need it, I'm just not about to let a guy carry something I could easily carry myself.
For example- if I have a whole bunch of stuff to carry and I seem to be on the verge of dropping things or if I'm carrying something heavy, by all means I'll say yest to anyone who offers help- male or female. But if I've just got one bag or a couple books tucked under my arm, I'll just respond with "No thanks, I'm fine. Appreciate the offer though."
It has absolutely nothing to do with not wanting to be close to the guy- unless maybe he gives me the creeps, which doesn't usually happen lol.

because they can carry their own stuff, theyre not weak or unable to do anything and a guy shouldn't slave himself out to her just because he likes her, its a doormat thing to do.
most fake nice guys do this and girls wise up against fake nice guys (not the genuine ones, the ones who are like this I mean: link
i think this is mainly an American thing, no one does this in my country. here we would assume the guy would run off with your stuff as a prank or to bully you

I mean if a girl is really struggling with something, then I can understand a guy asking if she needs help, but why would he ask her if he can hold something when it's obvious she isn't having trouble with it?
I don't think its a yes/no I find you attractive thing, just more of a I'm able to hold my things, it's fine.
Idk did I answer the question? It would make me feel like a helpless princess who makes her boyfriend carry all of her stuff, especially if it's not heavy. Also I'm paranoid and very protective about my things. :l
reason why is because the girls doesn't want to trouble the guys or the thing is not that heavy that she cannot do it herself. so it has nothing to do with attraction.
i say no usually just because I can carry it
if I let a guy carry is because I don't feel like carrying my thingsseem independant? I am thanks very much
reverse the statement and see how condesending that sounds
a guy won't accept help from a girl, do they want to seem independent or something?I wouldn't let him simply because I can carry them myself. But on the other hand if I don't like the guy, find him gross or annoying I won't let him carry my books
she's not interested if she doesn't let him
