I’ve spoken with many people who find this very relaxing. But these people are not anxious for sex. I don't know how relaxing it is for the person who really badly wants sex.

Tho some may agree, it can be relaxing even if they want sex, as long as they know for sure sex is definitely not happening.

I’m sure some would agree while nursing a deep hope for more..

if I like someone I’d be ok sleeping next to them or I’d be very happy to depending …as long as I was absolutely assured they really weren’t expecting sex.

i can easily see this being exploited under false pretenses so I’d have to trust them a ton and tres carefully. I’d make sure my roommates are home for example..

I have never had anyone say they wanted to sleep next to me when what they really wanted to do was sleep. And I’ve never said this to an anyone bc I am confident the assumption will be that im speaking in code and sleep is just euphemism for sex.

my guess is despite my vast Herculean emoji efforts😛, many people will not read the body of this post and will assume fork the tiller that the person who doesn’t want to date wants friends with benefits to avoid having sex with someone they know.

It is like to live in a world where this kind of thing could be taken at face value.

actuality I think within the Amish community young people sleep next to each other as part of courtship. But courtship is a huge deal so that’s not a great example I suppose. Respect tho. I think it’s a good idea.

I think in dating people spend so much conscious energy existing themselves trying to be a certain way and present a certain way that much of our authentic self get swept away. While with Sleeping you are who you are… you can’t fake it. Your curations are exactly you. I think it’s a good bonding exercise bed very Informative. Or alternatively, just calming and peaceful.

I switched gyms and saw GC for the first time 4 months ago. He’s quiet and focused on his workouts. I planned to leave state for 2 months so I figured I’d start a small convo before leaving to get his number. We had 3 convos over 3 days. On the third day, he said “while you have your phone out, take my number”. Then he asked, will you come back at all [from your trip]?

I took this as in he was interested in me.

I sent him a text with my first name only. So I asked before we left the gym if he’d like to hang out before I leave state. He said, “I have to be transparent, I have a girlfriend but things have been rocky and I don’t want to cross boundaries. She has an PA exam in May and I’m waiting until then.” He also is moving to CO in the fall and already told her last week not to move out there for him.

Over the next two days, he made the first move to strike up convo at the gym. I asked why he gave me his number and he said, “I didn’t want to miss an opportunity if she and I break up.”

I told him I’d wait for him to text me to let me know if anything changes and I wouldn’t contact him to be respectful of his relationship.

He found my social media and looks at my stories but hasn’t followed me. I believe he visits his girlfriend on the weekend (yesterday and today) and he viewed my stories both days in the morning and evening. I also think he found out that I’m 5 years older than him.

They’ve been together for 7 years (17-25yo). They both have deep Christian faiths. Their parents were college roommates. They played coed sports together in HS.

Am I just a shiny toy, distraction, rebound?

In April, we chatted about the end of school stuff he has going on and his career. When I start asking him about it, he says it's hard to explain on text but can explain it better in person. I figured that was his way of trying to set something up. So I replied with, "Oh. Haha. I see. So when do I get to see you in person so you can explain it?" and he says, "Haha. After Easter break I can fit something in."

The next day, people knew about it as a rumor had spread. One of his "friends" pulled me to the side and wanted a "girl chat."

The gist of what she told me:

- He can be a hit or miss. Meaning that he might be a good guy, he might not be.

- That he basically cheated on his girlfriend while she was in New York, but he didn't really do anything either so he technically didn't cheat (her words, not mine).

- Sophomore year, he talked to her for a month, then ghosted her. Then he was taking to someone last December and ghosted her too.

- She said he seems like he's grown up since then, she just wanted to give me a heads up that he's probably in his "player stage."

- She also said that his roommate and best friend are players. I've had several classes with his roommate and he's the sweetest guy. As for his friend, I'll give her that one, he can be trouble.

I wanted to tell him and ask him about it, but there was never a good time as he didn't ask to hang out after she spoke to me. Now, he doesn't reach out first, but if I do he does respond. This past week, we talked for four days straight and I figured that maybe I should say something to him. But yesterday, his friend posted a photo that shows her, him and a couple other people (the people she told me are trouble) at a show. My crush and her were pretty far from each other, but they still obviously hang out and talk.

Is it too late for me to say something to him? I don't want to look like a drama queen.
