Personally I don't think it is, coz it shows you're trying to prove you're worth to the person. I'd never feel I had to prove how worthy I was to anyone

If someone hurts me, I just cut all means of contact and move on with my life. I don't try to prove my worth to them by striving to be more successful. It's not even revenge , coz the person probably wouldn't care about your success. Not everyone has a jealous streak in them either , so they won't necessarily feel envious of other people's success.
