Why is my ex so bitter towards me even though he broke up with me?

We had a pretty good relationship, he often told me how happy I made him. When he broke up with me he did tell me that he wasn't sure "if I did a good thing or if I just made a big mistake"... we did break up for a stupid reason... I've been a good ex... i haven't been hounding him apart from the first few days when i begged him to reconsider...

It might be because you did that? "Begged him to reconsider". Think of it in the reverse, if you broke up with him and he did that. You made your decision, so you'd be trying to cut him off right and would probably be this way also maybe? He could handle it differently for sure, but a lot of people will be uncomfortable and not handle it very good. I'd just give it time and leave him be and let him come to you when/if he's ready and wants to. He might just need some time.

A lot of people can't continue to be friends with an ex, and if they can, it may take time. I'm friends with a couple of my ex's, but it wasn't "automatic". With one for example that I broke up with, I had to give her time to come back around. She did eventually, but she couldn't handle it at first. It took time.

What do you think about how he said he wasn't 100% sure about the break up? Also i exaggerated i didn't mean to say beg... i did tell him from my perspective and did say we could've worked around that... (its his first proper relationship)

Sounds like he's having some personal issues of some kind? Only he can say what exactly is going on with him, but maybe he's just not ready for any relationship? And it's fine/good you told him how you feel, he's knows you're there if he changes his mind, and maybe he will? I'd just give him time to figure it out (if you are willing/want to wait?).

We were only together for 2 months... he was always trying to rush everything... didn't really believe we would work only 2 months in when we barely knew each other and was concerned that we didn't love each other yet... thats why i explained to him that relationships take time and effort... more importantly patience...

I have learnt from previous exes that they all say some variation "we're never getting back together" in the beginning... never ends up being true as they have always come back... almost always when its too late

Sounds like he's new to relationships, and probably has never really been in a true/good one. Like you said, it takes time to develop, it doesn't just happen. He might not be capable of doing the "work"? Some people are like that.

He's just frustrated. He probably somewhat regrets the decision, but he also realizes that the reason he broke up with you is still a point of contention.
