Why do exes go cold after a break up?

In my case I broke up with my ex because he refuse to speak to me and he said he needed space one week into our relationship. He refused to tell me why or what he was upset about so I broke up with him in hopes that he would talk to me but he refused to talk it out and is just giving me the cold shoulder.

Not really sure why you thought breaking up with him would make him talk to you more? I don't personally do the whole break up, get back together thing, but that's just me. Regardless, I would say it's probably time to just let it go. If he decides he wants to talk to you at some point and you're still open to it when he comes around, then you can make that decision then. Not really anything you can do in the meantime to change his mind though. Plus, you were only together for a week.

I will say though that if he was stonewalling you, probably best to not be in that relationship anyway. Being in a relationship with someone who refuses to talk is never successful. I've been there...

If he wouldn't tell you what was going on, then you did the right thing. You're not getting any younger. Why waste time with a guy who doesn't want to communicate. THAT... is the number 1 reason for breakups and divorce. Whatever it is, he obviously still cannot or will not tell you.

I hope you find a much better guy who DOES communicate with you.

Because they are my ex.

I don't want to talk to them anymore, we are not in a relationship, and chances are, I'm hurting. Talking to them only prolongs the hurt.

Why would an ex talk to someone after a break up? It happened for a reason, you're the last person that he'd want to talk to.

I actually stay friends with most of my exes. I like to be civil and stay fb friends at least.
