Should you block an ex after you break up with them?

I broke up with my boyfriend. He isn't taking it seriously. Because, when we argue sometimes I block him. But, I actually do want to move on with my life without him. I feel kind of guilty for blocking him because I think it feels cruel. But, I don't want him saying sweet nothings to me to where I FEEL like working things out.
We have fundamental disagreements. He had inappropriate online relationships when several different women. He has stopped the inappropriate conversations, but he still talks to them from time to time. Even though they are regular conversations NOW, it doesn't change the fact the he is still in contact with these people.

I only have 2 exes that I still actually talk to and even then they aren't necessarily "exes'" in the conventional sense since I've never really had a conventional relationship where someone has actually wanted me as a partner. I'm sure it must feel incredibly invigorating though, most people have typically felt that by the time they're my age so I'm woefully behind.
I actually usually keep my exes' numbers but then we've typically parted on sour notes anyway so the MAIN ones are ones that I've kept their numbers but only so that I could block them in my phone (I know that went both ways from them too, I don't exactly hope to see them again in my life, although I still strangely miss them from time to time).
The others are ones who things just kinda fizzled out with and I kinda fell out of touch with and I still have their numbers and could theoretically text them anytime but don't for one reason or another (they've moved on and are with someone else, one even married or I just simple have no interest in conversing with them again as they were either unable to hold a conversation with me or were kind of dickish to me). There's actually one that I blocked (probably out of nowhere from her perspective) and I do sort of feel bad about it on occasion but to be fair she was also kinda stringing me along and toying with me and it didn't really feel like I was that important even as a friend to her.
Guess I'll never know the truth on that one but I've learned to not look back too often at this point. After ten or so knives hit your skin you learn to bleed pretty well and move on.
It's for these reasons I've begun to take more meaning in cultivating opposite-sex friendships lately rather than actively seeking romantic companionship as I've more or less given up hope on that part of my life ever happening. It's sorta too late for me there. And even if I did meet someone, she'd ask me for my Human CarFax on my relationship and sexual history and I'd sit there like an idiot and she'd wonder why the page is blank and what's wrong and run before even letting me get my explanation out. This is usually how it goes.
Cultivate friendships, hobbies and interests that provide purpose and Human fulfillment and avoid romantic entanglement and you will never be disappointed in life again. Sort of.

You made a decision, now remain steadfast. You don't want this person in your life anymore and blocking in one of tools to keep them on distance. If you encounter moral problems, like "maybe I'm too cruel" think twice if the person you dumped would have any problems to be cruel with you, after the person treated you like trash.

Girl that's a sign to move on trust me I just got out of a toxic relationship myself and it's best to ignore them. Trust me I just found out I'm having my ex's baby (wasn't by choice please don't come at me it was a toxic/abusive relationship) so it's time to pack up and walk out of that chapter.

I think no, because like girl let him see that how happy you are without him. But if you don't feel comfortable then you can block him after all it's your wish.

I haven't blocked any of the people I was in a relationship with and they haven't done it to me either. think it's rather silly and immature. The only case where it would be necessary is if the person is actually dangerous or sociopathic and volatile. But, if it's just an ordinary break up I think it's petty.

I never had to block any ex. But if they were trying to get back after me refusing clearly, yes I would block them. Or in my case not block just stop responding.

I tried not to block my ex but she start sending me her picture with random dudes. Just to make me jealous only then I block her.

I changed my number however in your situation, I think you done the right thing blocking this guy, especially if he isn’t taking the break up serious and you are being genuine about wanting to move on.
