You both had a great relationship but in the ended you two realized things were not going to work anymore and decide to breakup. Apart from giving some time to each other and distance yourselves from one another to process the break up would you block their number and social media?
+1 yI haven't, so far. `Tis THEY that stopped talking to ME!!
girlfriend 1: We remained friends even after the break-up and were still on French kissing terms almost 20 years later!
girlfriend 2: left me a few months after the break-up and then came back several times, over the next 40 years and was even on fucking terms with me for a short while about 4 years ago until, as democrats are won't to do, jumped to conclusions with no proof to back it up, called me all sorts of nasty names and I'd had enough of her bullshit so I stopped talking to HER!! She called back a day or so later to apologize but I refused to listen!! Now, she's still pissed at me and accusing me of shit I ever did.
girlfriend 3: I planned to marry her, we spent 10 years together but, I caught the mini-bitch cheating on me the last few months we were together! Over the next couple years, I wanted nothing to do with her after she wasted the last 10 years of my life (especially since I had other offers I could've taken! Even moreso that she left HIM, too, after just one year together!!) but, if she contacted me, I'd still talk with her. Then, once again, she accused me of shit I never did o, I stopped having ANYTHING to do with her!!10 Reply

That's ridiculous I have never blocked anybody I doubt I will block anybody ever but I mean if they don't respect you and they are harassing you then you have blocked them but I mean a breakup is a breakup it happened I guess for a reason and you have to honor that and respect it and just walk away like that leave it alone I've always said we were friends when we got together we can be mature and we can be friends when we are gone from each other some people don't understand that and that's all good but the door is always right there just because something happened that nobody could control doesn't mean that there has to be anger or hatred towards each other

+1 yNo, and I don’t think I ever have a bad break up and I’m still talking to my ex as friends including my ex husband. I just trying to understand why they leave and forgiving always easier than everything else. Once u forgive someone, u learn to let everything go. If u keep hating them, they will always be in your mind.

u +1 yI don't block unless I expect them to continue pursuing me. Break up means no regular contact.
00 Reply Personally, yes, I would. After I break up with someone, I don't really expect to stay in touch with them afterwards and I don't believe in the whole idea of staying "just friends" after a break up, because most of the time, the common denominator of the break ups I've had so far have been initiated by them; either because they fell "out of love", they want to "focus on their future and can't get distracted from a relationship" (which is a blatant lie because I can't understand why we both can't grow our future together and besides, after the break up, I see them getting with another guy anyways).
Long story short, even if it's a "good break up" as you call it, it isn't ever really a good break up and almost always, even though you may say you're fine and happy for them and even if the break up didn't phase you (usually because you were the one who suggested breaking up in the first place) and they, just wanted to see you happy, said they were fine with it, but deep down, almost always, a small part of them still misses you and wanted to work things out. For this very reason, they would feel better blocking you instead and cutting contact with you, because they don't feel comfortable seeing your pictures again and again, and the possibility of seeing you with someone else.
Hope it makes sense.00 Reply- 591 opinions shared on Break Up & Divorce topic.
+1 yBy keeping talking, we'd reconnect and re-start. the only solution to end it was to stop communicating.
in another case I kept talking and interacting with a friendzone. That's not healthy as It prevented me from growing and finding my own life.
don't have to block. blocking is more of a control when the emotions are a mess and running in pain. pain is a communicator that just says change is required.
I question if you want x's around as you have new relationshiops, but it may work depending upon personalities.
20 Reply I'm going to her birthday tomorrow. That's how well the breakup has been.
But I'm not gonna lie to you part of me wishes it was a bad breakup. It's hard being around her and remembering what made me fall for her to begin with. And she confessed to the same.
The breakup was her idea but her reasons where personal not a reaction to something I did but a lack of closure from her past denying her the ability to fall in love again.
I hate that it turned out this way, we had so much chemistry you could see the sparks fly when we're in a room together and yet here we are00 ReplyWomen always block me. They always lead me on though. Just be straight from the beginning. I had a girl tell me in April work would slow down around October and she would have more time to go on more dates. Well October rolled around and it was the same bs. I was busy with work too, so I didn't really go on any dates while I was really waiting for her. We had been on a couple dates already and she bought a house that was too expensive so she had to work a ton. Who knows, but the reason I went on a couple dates with a couple other girls was because we weren't official yet and I knew people rarely hold true to their word anyways exactly like in this case.
00 ReplyI do because even if it was calm and pecegood terms the fact still remains that if things "dont work" it's because she treated me like trash. Didn't love me, appreciate me or respect me. And that gets you cut out PERIOD so They always get blocked someone like that doesn't deserve access to my greatness not even a "how you been" or a "happy birthday"
I've tried once to leave a door open so she could apologize some day but it never happened women never apologize. So yeah I'm a blocking machine even with girls I was just in a talking phase with or even just friends a couple times.00 Reply
+1 yI don’t block exes. No response is a response. They can communicate all they like. If it warrants my response I will respond. If it doesn’t I don’t. If it turned stalker like I’d change my number and still not block. Just set firmer boundaries if it’s a problem.

+1 yNah, there's no point in that, we just went our both ways and that was that, there's really no benefit in blocking, if anything it makes you look somewhat petty if y'all broke up and left on good terms

+1 yI would not block her as this implies you don't care at all, which is heartless in itself. I would not contact her nor check her status again though, as this would be disrespectful to whomever I am with currently (if that is the case) .

+1 ySometimes you have to do this at the start of a new relationship. I'm not saying you should isolate or give up friends, but it isn't fair to expect a new romance to thrive and be healthy while you're being interrupted by text messages from your exes during your dates or other time together. Not to mention that people will sometimes accept the 'friend' role in a breakup just to stay close when they really have deeper feelings, and will intentionally cause problems with new love interests.

+1 yShort answer: No, there's no need to.
Long answer: Actually I am friends with all of my exes and no harsh feelings at all, I respect that they have moved on and have their own family now. Last relationship ended in 2014 so I've been alone for quite a while, and I am lonely most of the times...00 ReplyI don't really block anyone. Feels kind of childish. I was a young kid (10/11) when the Internet became a household thing and block buttons and whatever social media we had back then seemed more for genuine harassment rather than for solving disagreements so even to this day I use it the same way. I don't block anyone except for the rare times it's genuinely needed (scam accounts spamming messages, etc)

+1 yI usually don't block, even after a bad breakup. We're just two adults that don't function well together and have decided to go our separate ways. I don't see what blocking would do for you except telling yourself you had the last laugh or something petty like that.

+1 yif she’s as good a person as you say then she will not call you at anytime anyways. I don’t expect to need to block.

10 ReplyYeah, for sure. It doesn't have to be bitter but an ex has no role in your current life in any way. That includes both online and real life.

+1 yNo, that would be completely petty and unnecessary. Now excuse me while I launch nuclear weapons at my ex who I had an amicable breakup with.
20 Reply322 opinions shared on Break Up & Divorce topic. Personally I wouldn't , but I never do , I don't think of it " Black and White " like that , just because I broke up , does not mean at some point I don't wish to converse with them.

+1 yNope, I still cherish some of my previous partners and like to see what they're up to. Some of them are blocked forever. It depends entirely on how things ended.
00 ReplyUsually brakeups are one sided at least in my experience it alsways was, so there's always the onbe that wants to get back together so no its always better to not have contact.

+1 yNo, it doesn't seem necessary if we both agreed to end the relationship. However, maybe unfollowing each other on social media can be a good choice to move on from that person and the relationship.
00 ReplyHmm, ok. I was in a toxic relationship. Few days ago she unblocked me after 6 month. I block her right back, because it's easier for me. So, I just wanna move on and blocking is the right solution for me.

Opinion Owner+1 yBut understand that some people do not have the character to keep their distance on a healthy level, sometimes it's really hard and sometimes we get drunk or have moment of weekness, and we give into contact. There's nothing worse of ex re-appearing when you finally over them, or even worse if you are not. So blocking is a reasonable and understandable thing to do, it's like a double precasion. I wouldn't take it against them if they felt the need to it.
