Why do guys like to talk about their ex?

I don’t know why guys like to bring up their ex in conversations.

If I know the girl at least it will make a bit more sense. If I don’t know the girl in the first place, there is no point bringing her up. I doubt I will ever be introduced to her.

I just get feed a lot of information that I don’t really need. “Oh my ex loves to recycle” or “my ex says I don’t love her”

It feels like a chore to talk to these guys sometimes. I understand that you are heartbroken/ not over your ex. But constantly mentioning them to me doesn’t help your situation at all. If you want to get back together with your ex then work on it. You mentioning them 24/7 will not change anything.

Yeah its not cool, but every guy learns the hard way about that. You nailed it he's hung up over his past, and screwing up his prospects with you.

Guys just what open up to someone and get it out, and they can't do it with thier guy friends... and think women are more understanding about it. But its BS.

I don't know, I'm not opposed to talking about any of my ex's, but I won't discuss them unless it's relevant to the conversation. Definitely not to compare the girl I'm with to and of my ex's.

I feel my ex's my ex's for a reason so it don't make sense to me how you're facing this with all your guys.

Yeah for real. I get wanting to talk about their trauma with an ex or anything that they’ve learned from their past relationships but randomly bringing up their ex is a major red flag in my opinion it just makes it seem like he’s not over her yet…

Stories have other people in them and often an ex is there too it had nothing to do with whether or not i was over them.

Sometimes the break-up isn't irreconcilable, or it was on mutual terms so the guy or even girl may take about the ex in a more positive light.

Early on if you are meeting someone new it's just best to keep the ex out of it otherwise you are showing you may have more than just an arms-length attachment.

Girls do this too. They're trying to tell you their past troubles, human nature, in hope that they won't repeat the same mistake again. Basically they're telling you, 'Hey if you don't do this thing I didn't like about my ex then we'll be fine together.'

My relationship with my ex ended 40 years ago. I very rarely talk about her. I also know many men that are 1+ years out from divorce/breakup and they rarely speak of their ex. When they do its things like going into a place where she is or it's her birthday or an anniversary etc. I'm not sure what brought this question on, but this is not my experience.

Not me. They're out of my life and fading from memory. I only talk about them of I'm asked questions about them and that's it.

Sounds like to me some guys or people aren't over their exes still and keep talking about them. Seems like they miss them or want to secretly get back with them.

Because is a part of our memoris, we invested time and feeling.
Personal i still talk about her afther yares afther we broke up even i know i should stop, it make me feel so relax and relase to talk about her, it feel like we never broke up when i talk about her, is simply numbing the pain if i talk about her.

I think both women and men do this equally because they're still not over their exes. Either they have strings attached or during it they did not have anyone to express about it over.
