This has happened to me before! I don’t really understand it but when they were explaining it, they said it was because they were comfortable in the relationship. It’s been such a long time together that anything different would be such a big change to them. They would rather always come back to a comfortable life style while cheating.
Doesn’t mean anything but that was the explanation I got in the end.

This happens ALL of the time. I think its because their SO is comfortable to them. I always wondered this answer just like you are right now. I always assumed it was out of safety and comfort as opposed to attraction.
