Why would an ex boyfriend not block you on social media?

Why would they need to? Not every relationship needs to end on bad terms. Just move on and don't pay them attention. Blocking someone with the sole reason being that they are your ex is a little childish. Did they hurt you- mentally, physically, sexually? If yes, block their asses. If it's an amicable break, just carry on with your life.

Everyone handles breakups differently, and blocking isn’t always on the to-do list. Unless you ended on very bad terms or he has some sort of grudge against you then he may not feel the need to block.

Did he remove you? If I didn't hate you, there would be no need to if you're not bothering me. Like I might remove you, but not block you. And especially with guys and social media, it may have not even crossed his mind to block or remove you yet. We don't generally care much about social media at all.
