My ex boyfriend and I were together for almost a year. When we broke up, we expressed how much love we still have for one another and he said he wasn't ruling anything out or shutting the door on us trying again.
We've been separated for 3 months and recently just got back in contact with each other. We went for coffee and it was a really nice visit. It felt like we never really broke up at all.
Afterwards he texted me and said he had a great time but he doesn't want to get my hopes up about us getting back together. He likes where he's at right now in his life and he's not at a point where he's ready to get back into anything serious anytime soon. But he still wants to talk and hang out with me.
Is it a good idea for me to try to be friends with him (even though I still have very strong feelings for him)?
