Why wouldn’t my ex just block me/delete me?

My ex broke up with me exactly 3 weeks ago. He tried coming back a couple days after the breakup by trying to make small talk but I left him on read. And didn’t respond. He kept watching my posts on Snapchat and then stopped about 4 days ago.

Yesterday, I confronted him on Snapchat and told him I knew he cheated on me. He denied the whole thing. And never apologized. And then left me on delivered on my last message. I really just wanted closure, tbh. Or maybe even an apology because I thought one day, we could’ve been friends again. That thought is gone now. I’m just wondering why he wouldn’t delete or block me on Snapchat? He just left me on “delivered”. He hasn’t deleted me on other social media either. But I plan on blocking him in a bit on everything. I’m just curious why he didn’t if he was just planning on leaving me on “delivered”?

Edit: The reason I’m curious is because I’ve become friends with all of my exes, EVENTUALLY. I didn’t want him back. But I felt like closure and an apology would’ve been nice. I got neither. I ended up blocking him. I’m just wondering why he didn’t block me or unfriend me before I did? Especially since I confronted him.

Not every ex is going to be your friend, that’s just the facts of life. It doesn’t mean there is an issue between you, it’s just that chapter is closed in a real way. Don’t worry about it too much so you can heal and move on.

Yeah I blocked him now. But I was just curious on why he responded for a while and then just ended up leaving me on “delivered” and didn’t delete or block me as a friend

There could be a plethora of reasons, and I know this answer doesn’t suffice, but no matter who you ask, if it’s not coming straight from him then it’s all speculation and assumptions. Nothing will truly satisfy you unless it’s him having a conversation as a means of closure, ending amicably and ultimately being friends. That outcome doesn’t always happen though, and being realistic about that fact will help you a lot going forward.
