Helped him in many ways with his life.

Yet it's like he didn't really appreciate it.

This bloke you speak of does not sound like the type of man your well wishers would approve. Some people do not appreciate our actions, how much ever meaningful it could be and this type of people are simply not worth your time or energy.

You are older now, and assuming you are more experienced in the dating field, it is safe to say that you understand that not everyone will appreciate you or love you for who you are and yes, that sucks big time, but you should also not entertain them one bit. Some people are like parasites, they will use you for their own gain while slowly bringing you down, you should be able to identify the red flags from the beginning and kick them to the curb ASAP. You are going to be fine, trust me. You should stand your ground and never let anyone use you or bring you down and please do not go back to him. I am actually very glad that you realize how much more better you deserve and how much of a piece of trash your ex was. You are strong and resilient. Believe in yourself. This is NOT your fault. Do not blame yourself, it was all him.

Actually no, I may be "old" (to those younger than 38 haha), but no, I was really blindsided by my ex (or maybe I was just too infatuated/in love to see his bad side. I don't know, haha). But yeah, you seem to know a lot about human nature at your young age. Thank you for this.

By the way, it was weird because my ex was 47 so he should have known to act better. I guess it IS true about age being just a number! At least in this case.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I think the only explanation why that happened is that, he's a jerk. He did not deserve the love you gave him. I hope someday you'll find someone who will appreciate you and would love you as much as you love them. What you can do for now is just focus on yourself, it's not your lost, it's his. No amount of sex, love from your side, money or help with whatever can ultimately make him love you. Him falling out of love can have numerous reasons and it's ultimately not possible for us to say why. Maybe he was expecting something different from a relationship and wanting something you weren't providing. Maybe he disliked some things about you enough that he wanted to leave. Maybe he was just a jerk using you. Like I said. We can't say for sure.

If you genuinely loved someone it can be hard to accept, especially if you devoted so much to this relationship. You sound mature so I assume if he had any interest in saving the relationship or he genuinely still had feelings for you he'd have tried to talk it out.
