How to get over someone you've known for 6 years?

Long story (kinda) short, I knew this guy had a physical relationship with him for 6 years, he didn't want a romantic relationship. I was fine with that. He pretty much ghosted me for about 8 months, it hurt for a bit. I was making an effort to move on, he came back saying he was busy with work couldn't respond because he was working long hours and was tired. He asked if I wanted a relationship, I said yeah, but I told him he can't drop contact or I'm done. He agreed we made it official in Feb/March. He ended up ghosting me again so I blocked his number. I understand being tired, and not talking all the time but it's been 7 months since we've agreed to be exclusive, no words from him. He ghosted me again and I'm upset with myself for letting him back in.

8 months and he couldn't call because he was "busy" no one is ever too busy for the one they want. You then are not the one for him. I know it hurts and it's hard to move on at times but trust me there is no point in even trying with him even if he comes back into your life you need to love yourself a little more to not let him back. For 8 months he was more than likely talking to someone else because that is a ridiculous amount of time. You were fine with not having a romantic relationship with him until your feeling started to grow more for him than his. So now you end up feeling hurt. It's okay think about him but just stop going back to him. There are plenty and I mean plenty of fish in the sea but try and not be a friends with benefits. You end up feeling hurt when they don't want to commit. Thing is for men when we give up sex then there is no need to make it official, no need to take you out on dates, and no need to wine and dine you because he is already getting what he wants. There is no need to put any effort into it so just be careful next time and make them work to have you. I'd say wait until marriage to have sex that way it will take away all the ones that are not in it for the long run but if that's too hard then just wait it out and get to know them for sometime. A good year or 2
