How effective is the no contact rule after you stop talking to someone?

If you broke off things with someone what’s usually the time that takes until you talk again if there was any further contact after that? From my previous experiences I saw that they reach out typically after a month or a little over after. Though I have seen cases where it takes as long as a year or more.

Never unless it's about returning/getting my stuff or things owed to me.

I would be respectful if we ever meet in public.

But talking again? Not happening (ok I partly lied, I am still friends with one of my ex, but the break up is mutual).

If they broke up with me I'd never ever initiate a message to them and would only contact them if they contacted me first, even then I'd take a while to respond
