It depends on what terms you are, you are still friends or what? If I changed from a relationship to a friend, I'd do it... but if he cheated, then no way.

Or if we broke up without anything bad but he didn't want to stay friends, then I would not do it.

Pretty weird! I would laugh and ignore the text. I have an ex and we had a 'good breakup' I would reply "you too" but nothing else. Out of respect for my current relationship.

Normally if it were MY ex and I wanted nothing to do with her, then yes, I would call it weird because it doesn't make sense why I'd text her a happy new year when I have no intention of getting back with her or seeing staying in touch with her moving forwards into 2023
