It depends what they did to break it. In my opinion, trust can never be regained or rebuilt on the same level as it was before with the person who broke your trust. Trust is the solid foundation for every relationship and friendship. How can you trust someone again after they've already given you a reason why they can't be trusted. I don't think it's possible to. Even if a person believes they can and have trusted again, I believe they'll always be an underlying doubt about the person's loyalty. They'll never trust them wholeheartedly

If one can't forgive and wants to stay in relationship then visit a counselor or pastor until you are able to accomplish forgiveness. Forgetting is another thing but obsessing over it is counterproductive. It takes maturity to get over trust violations. Best with it.
