Sometimes it's not the person who we are holding onto, it's the memories we had with them. I know it's not easy and it hurts like hell, but trust me it's going to get better with time. Although it feels like you will never be able to fall in love with someone, it'll change with time, that's the truth. But somehow you have to distract yourself with something in order to avoid the hurtful feelings for some time. Which means you got to try a new hobby or if you have some close friends maybe hang out with them. It'll get better. Stay strong, best of luck!
I mean no offense OP, but why break-up with him? Just give the guy some time keep in contact and carry on as is, typically if we try to lock someone down it will scare them away, allowing freedom and time to develop feelings is important.
To answer your question - time... and self imporvement. Talk to family, friends, dating, reading, career. Learn to love yourself truly through and through so that you don't develop anxiety with the thought of losing someone. You know that if you do you'll be okay
