How do I get over my ex?

For two weekends he just didn’t reply to text so I broke up with him. I noticed that the texts and calls decreasing before I decided to do that. I went back to him but he said he needed time and now I’m scared to ask for him again. I’m obsessed with him and I’m in pain everyday. I’ve never loved someone as much although it’s only been a few months. How do I stop?
