Can a rebound for an ex be 1.5 years later?

So my ex broke up with me July 2021. Till this day I don’t think he knows why. Nor do I think he’s been able to process his feelings about it. We’ve seen eachother many times since but never gotten back together. Just 5 weeks ago, he contacts me and told me no one has measured up to me, he still loves me even if I hate him, told me his therapist says he loves me and that he passed up so many oranges to find the lost ripe and missed the perfect one. He said him and his therapist were trying to figure out why he was afraid of commitment. So many other things. Said I was his good luck charm and every tiny leads him back to me. And then the next day when he didn’t have alcohol in his system, got freaked out and said he meant what he said but didn’t see it working but then wanted to hang out a few days later on a Sunday. He texted me “well” at like 7pm as if I was supposed to text him to hang out. He never followed up for plans. I said “well what “Then 2 hours later goes “sorry I fell asleep lol” I never responded out of frustration.

then I heard through the grapevine he was hooking up with girls left and right. He slept with 4 girls in one week! To me it seemed he was trying to get over me. Now just 5 weeks later he has a girlfriend ……. after he said he was afraid of commitment. I’m just wondering if this is some kind of rebound to get over me or what. I’m so sad bc I still love him. 😢I don’t know how you can say all those things to someone and have a girlfriend a month later.
