This is really broad, and entirely depends on your situation. What I have seen carries over between people is this though.
You have to start by accepting that they are gone. And that takes a bit of honesty. For some people that means you have to engage with why you are hurt, to talk and work through it. Some people need to walk away, and engage in something else. You need to think for a minute, and probably talk to someone else, to find what way works for you.
It comes down to finding peace, that you have a life beyond them, that you are your own person after, and that there's more. Do you think you need to talk about it, or focus on the other parts of your life?
Sometimes feeling heartbroken is a good thing. How? Now that you’ve experienced it, you now that you NEVER want to cause anyone else to be heartbroken. We have a tendency to think only about ourselves and our own suffering, and not about how the situation can be used for good.
By not dating anyone.
