Does cheating on my husband prevent me from getting alimony?
You posted as Anon, so I can't see what country you live in. In the US, alimony is decided in a divorce to roughly equalize the two partners economically. If partner A makes more money than partner B, then partner A usually pays alimony to partner B. It's up to the courts to determine that, though often the lawyers of the two partners propose a settlement to the court and the court approves it.
Depending on how long you've been married, cheating can throw a wrinkle into the proceedings. Your husband's lawyer, for example, could argue for an annulment of the marriage, claiming that your cheating is proof you never considered yourself married; in some states adultery is still a crime (though not often enforced), and that argument could be used to get the court to issue an annulment. In an annulment, there would be no alimony, because legally there was no marriage.
Get a good lawyer and talk through the process with them. He or she will want all the details of your relationship and cheating, so remember that lawyer-client privilege is private and does not need to be revealed to others.
There are many important things in a divorce. Alimony is just one of them.

In my country, Switzerland, this makes no difference and the judge is going to stop anyone who wants to tell stories about cheating or about how much they felt neglected in the marriage. Alimony depends on income of each of the spouses and future earnings potential of the one who earns less. It also depends on who the kids live with. That's all.
You really shouldn't if you cheated on him but in the end it's up to the judge and how much each of you make. It depends on your state really on whether or not they can even take it into consideration.

I can only answer from an Australian perspective , you would get a settlement based on assets , if that value was zero , you would get zero , if it were one million $$ , you'd get 500k , the concept of Alimony in this situation is ludicrous , you dont deserve a cent to be paid as a continuance.
No wonder no USA males want to get married ; ridiculous.
Huh? So you tell him that you love him but then you cheat with somebody else having fun laughing acting is nothing has even happened when you get home before he does
And then all the sudden you get caught you're not sorry or anything you just want his money now
Only the judge will know that I don't want to comment I've said enoughA judge would probably rule against you. I’m not sure the intricacies…as I’m sure most divorces are handled by adjudication. But context matters. If you have children, have done remodeled the house, etc, all that is taken into account.
If you’re just after his money, forget it.Depends on the laws where you live - there is lots of variation. You probably need to contact an attorney to find out for sure.
In many places adulatory doesn't change alimony or the division of assets.
Have you been working all the while you were married? Are there children?
I think it depends on what state you live in.
Depends on where you live. He can sue you and the person you cheated with in a lot of states as well. I hope he takes you for everything for being such a trash human.
You will still get alimony because men are on the short end of the stick when it comes to essentially everything, but the media will have you believing otherwise.
You shouldn't but I don't how things work in the US. Probably varies by state I would guess.
Depending on who makes more it is very likely you will receive alimony. This is why marriage is a bad idea for men.
You can't blurt out two simple lines and determine whether you're entitled to alimony or not
Depends on how liberal the area is, more liberal more likely you'll win
If there's any justice, you'll have to pay him alimony.
You don't deserve Jack Squat.
You'll get nothing because you cheated.
Nope. You already asked this.
Most courts don't care.
