Ah! Ok.
Well, I think it’s rather a heartless take on the reality of second marriages. Some do seem like that, others don’t.
The important thing is not to parade a string of new partners in front of any kids involved… and not to force a new partner on the kids. It’s why many people choose to stay single after a divorce… to spare the kids all this.
Personally, I didn’t ask the ex for anything. I plowed through on my own and struggled. Ironically, so well he tried some sneaky things to get my place and access to my salary long after we split. What saved me was a really good legal mediator and a judge who saw right through the situation.
So… tossing all the blame on the woman may have seemed accurate in the 1970s-90s, but today women are just as susceptible to being taken advantage of. (Actually, precedent for that was set in the mid-1980s.)
