What do you think about a man receiving alimony for life from his wife?

I dont understand alimony. Life is an opportunity not a problem. Alimony is like a split up without taking your own responsibility for your life with you...

Money is our worth, i want to be free of them, if they are paying me to stay away, im not free. If im am paying them to stay away, im not free...

I think divorce is like death of a relationship. Alimony is still holding onto a part of it. I dont understand how either person feels they are worth someones energy after they leave the relationship. Gender doesn't matter.

why for life? i think that's dumb. this also goes for women receiving alimony for life from her ex husband.

also, you forgot, this only happens when they divorce. not when they're still married. so that woman would not still be his wife. which is why it's stupid and makes no sense. that's why alimony for life is not a thing in divorces. and if it does happen, it's extremely rare. alimony is only during separation and following a divorce. once the divorce is final, go life your own life.

if you get remarried, you can kiss that alimony check goodbye.

"Permanent" alimony is usually reserved for very long-term marriages where one spouse is unlikely to ever re-enter the workforce effectively due to age or health.
