Why do breakups hit men late?

Every time i break i directly grief and sob while they look okay. But 3 month into the breakup they always end up coming back and going through a rough time like it hits them after i move on. Its making me think men process breakups real slow.

You may contribute to this effect. If you are really close with your boyfriend and spending almost all free time together then he may feel a rush of freedom after the breakup, especially coming out of rough stretch with lots of quarreling.

Freedom will often taste bitter quite soon and certainly at the first difficulties, such as a new girl not wanting a second date or similar struggles.

Many of us also numb the first pain with alcohol or other drugs of their choice, but this makes it even worse a bit later on.

I can't say I've ever experienced that, sorry. I don't think that's "a guy thing" so much as an individual thing. 3 months after a relationship ends I could hardly spot you in a crowd.

Probably because we don't deal with the loss. We try to bury our emotions and carry on until such time as it knaws away at us and comes out later.
