Why is ex suddenly nice to my friends and talking to them if he never liked them? I personally think these are false intentions and manipulation. I am right?

Long story. My ex and I broke up a year ago. We had a pretty bad breakup. He played with me for a while, then I finished with him completely. He never liked my friends, he always made fun of them. For the last 4 months, he has been very nice to them. i think it's just a facade...
it's annoying because i love my friends and I suspect the ex doesn't have pure intentions...
