I needed change. I’ve had long hair my whole life and I needed to change my appearance. It also loved my long hair so it would just so rewarding to cut it all off
I've had long hair most of my life, too but, the ONLY time I shaved it off was 35 years and 2 weeks ago in protest. Mom forced me to cut it short for my ex-sister's wedding, a wedding I was dead set against because her hubby was a flaming asshole!! So I wasn't going, anyway and I told her, if you cut my hair short, I'm shaving it off! She cut it short so, I shaved it off!! Once she found out, she refused to let me go to the wedding! I didn't give a shit!! I wasn't going, anyway!!
After the wedding, everyone came to the house for a swim and as soon as they saw my cue ball, they just asked why I didn't come. I told them mom wouldn't let me. They all said, "Oh, who cares what you look like?" EXACTLY!!
I haven't cut my hair since. But, it just never grows past my waist!

It was mutual. He just changed a lot and we grew apart. I also grow in one direction and he did in other. Sometimes it happens in relationships
