I broke up with my boyfriend so I cut my hair. What’s your opinion?

So me and my boyfriend have broken up after 5 years. It’s been super emotional and I needed an immediate change. They do say hair holds memories so I’ve cut all my hair off. As soon as he left I went upstairs and chopped it all off. It was down to my belly button but now it’s chin length. I’m still in shock with everything but I’m happy about the change. It feels good to have such short hair, it's so free and light on my head, plus my ex boyfriend hates short hair so that’s an extra win. Was this too crazy or was this a good change, what’s your opinion?

You may or may not want to hear this because of such a recent roller-coaster of a relationship, but I think congratulations are in order. I think that color looks bad on you, and will mess up peopled opinions of the cut! It's attractive, you just need a new style for it. It doesn't fit the soft feminine look, you've got to lean into sexy and mature.

I would also keep that long hair to turn it into extensions. It's fun to change things up from time to time. Congrats on losing the boyfriend! I shaved my head when I finally got rid of mine. Didn't look fantastic, but I loved the experience, and that's what matters. Three years later; it's about half the length yours was. Hair tends to grow back, so don't regret it.

Personally, and I wanna emphasize on personally, I think girls cutting their hair after a break up is pretty pointless. What exactly does it offer? Your ex isn’t going to take you back just because you got a new do. Unless you wanted to cut your hair and he was apposed to the idea, then it’s probably good that he is gone anyways. Which looks to be the reason in your case

A break up means things didn’t work out and sometimes there’s fault and other times there isn’t. I’m glad you like your new do. As long as it makes you happy then good.

If your primary reason for cutting it off is because you hate having long hair, then thats fine, keep it short.
But if you just did it to get back at him, thats not really going to effect him any, because he's not with you anymore.

Cutting your hair is a very normal and often freeing and positive change after a big life event.

I often had big haircuts after my breakups as a way to reconnect with myself and give myself whatever cut I wanted as a way to assert my independence in style.

Nowadays my style is pretty stable, but I often will have periods of growth and cutting back according to season.

I didn't read all of the opinion's on your question, but did anyone mention that you should donate your old hair to The American Cancer Society because I think it's that organization that makes wigs for cancer patients who have lost all their hair.
There is a foundation Wig's for? Can't remember but you can Google it.
