If you're wise then you don't get him back. To break up because of a haircut only shows he has objectified you through your hair. It doesn't show any emotional attachment to the woman who has the hair. If he loves hair so much and you so little to the point that he broke up with you then he's actually doing you a favor. Take advantage of it and find someone who is capable of, can and will love you for you, regardless of how long or short your hair is.
Good riddance to him. Find someone who actually likes you.
That is an incredibly shallow move in all respects. Honestly, the simple answer would be; Somebody who breaks up with you because of that, is not worth wasting ANY further time in a relationship.

You get him back by telling him you will grow your hair back out. Contrary to what most women think about hair it is the woman's most attractive feature. Even more so than breasts and buttocks. You can test this by showing guys a picture of an average girl with small breast and buttocks with long hair and then showing them an attractive girl with big breasts and buttocks but with a pixie cut. Every man will choose the average girl every time unless they like women who look like men and are gay or bi.
It's emotionally traumatizing for men and women to have their significant other drastically change their appearance. If you read enough comments on various websites, you'll find that even women naturally react the same way your boyfriend did when their SOs drastically altered their hair. It's sad he didn't find you attractive after that. I've seen many hot girls get their hair cut and it kills any type of attraction I ever had for them. It could take a perfect 10 to where I'd be embarrassed to be seen holding her hand.
Don't go back with him. He's just with you for your superficial appearance.
