I'd say it benefits the woman because they can use the government to force men to pay for the kids without actually having to be his wife and without having them in his custody most of the time.

Some people argued it's harder for women because they get stuck with the kids... but they almost always want their kids and want them to be with their dad as little as possible.

Sure men can "move on" but at a certain point they're not going to want to start a whole new family and leave their kids behind.

Financially men do. It's been proven that men come out of divorces richer while women come out of divorces poorer than what they both were before marriage. Emotionally men end up more depressed and women end up happier after divorces so I guess it depends which one you see as more of a benefit. Money or happiness

@Apple1996 I'm not sure it's fair to generalize. Let me share you my experience. When my then-wife and I divorced... amicably... my net worth was cut in half while hers doubled. Then, I paid her alimony for 7 years. We only had adult kids, so there was no child support or her expenses for children. She made out much better than I did. Plus, when she gets to retirement age, she can collect Social Security equal to what I collect, which is about 40% more than what her own SS would be.

Fiscally they are more likely to be awarded money alimony, child support etc. Paternal rights, they are more likely to be granted primary custody of the kids. Socially, even though women predominantly file for divorce it seems anecdotally that men are always blamed as being some sort of perpetrators. Either he wasn’t providing enough for her, wasn’t attentive enough to her needs, or he wasn’t able to keep her satisfied so she had to step out.

But it’s really not a gender thing, there are marriages where the women are the ones who own the houses and assets and half to pay a settlement. My brother's ex wife gets child support or backpay till both his girls are 18 years old (9/7). He pretty much has to work two jobs to survive and his wife works. His ex wife has her parents to buy her daughters food and clothing. My brother was lucky to get child support from his ex girlfriend though it goes for bills. My brother ex wife has to deal with her daughter 24/7 so he basically wins.
