How to ask my narcissistic boyfriend with depression to be just friends?

I’ve been in this relationship with him for 3yrs but I’d rather be friends and I’ve told nicely before and he just says he’ll do better and then we can work on it together but the truth is I just don’t love him in that way and would rather be friends but everytime I try to break up with him he threatens to kill himself and as attempted multiple times to keep me with him what do I do?

Just block him. Call a police or contact a suicide prevention hotline and tell them about his situation. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from your family and friends.

Has he been diagnosed with narcissism and depression? Those are both clinical diagnoses, not words just to be thrown around based on how someone seems to you. Narcissism especially is very rarely diagnosed.

He admits he’s a narcissist also it’s not how I think of him because I want to, he genuinely is and yes he is diagnosed with depression

He won't do anything, he just wants to grab your attention so that you don't leave him. What you should do is confront him and then walk away. In the end, you have to hurt him to set him free, or else you'll remain a prisoner of his illusions.

Honestly, just worry about your happiness. It's up to him if he can be just friends with you and it sounds like he can't. It's definitely a man tactic. He's calling your bluff on leaving, I think it should be your turn to call his bluff.
