Yeah, that really sucks what you're going through. Dealing with depression is no joke, and having an unsupportive boyfriend definitely doesn't help things.
It sounds like you're right that breaking up might be best for your mental health right now. You need to be with someone who understands depression and is willing to support you through the bad days, not make you feel worse!
It's not your fault you struggle with it, and you don't deserve to have your feelings dismissed like that. You need people in your life who will lift you up when you're down, not put you down.
Definitely focus on taking care of yourself for a while. Do things that make you happy even if it's just small things. And don't be afraid to get help from friends or a therapist too if you need an extra ear.
When you're ready to date again just make sure to really feel a guy out on his empathy levels before committing. Someone compassionate will be way better for your well-being long term. You got this - better days are ahead!

well thats unfortunate. To a certain extent your depression is on you.. On that same token, if he truly cared, he would be supportive. he may also not know how to deal with it. I know i dont, at least not very well.
Let me put this a different way though. My wife has had issues, very recently with depression and self harm. The way i supported her was to get her into therapy, because i am not equipped mentally to deal with that. I didn't give up on her, i didn't reinforce her choices and behavior, i did what i could to get her help. Now that she is in therapy she's better.

Leave him. Being supportive = love. He doesn't have it.
