My ex was in the same store as me a few days ago we didn’t have a terrible break up but we don’t really talk anymore. We caught up on life and he told me he’s having a health battle with his heart. And we talked about that for a few and we told each other have a good evening and walked away

Today he texted me and said “well.. pray for me”

I wouldn't read into it. He might be reaching out again, but don't take the bait. Just take it at face value and pray. If he pushes it further, tell him you are not interested in going that direction again. Hold the line; praying for someone is one thing, dating and developing a relationship again is quite another.

That is, if you really don't want to date him again. If you do, you're taking on a possible caretaking role or him potentially dying young. You'll need to consider if you want to intentionally choose that emotional trauma.

Probably someone deeper happened to him or maybe he is getting an operation. Maybe you should reach out to him. Probably needs support. If he was good to you in the relation, try to be his support. If not, well… that is your decision to make
