Lot of reasons: women tend to interpret what they read based on their mood so it is VERY easy to be misunderstood in text when talking to a woman. So what could have been 5 words turns into a 10 message back and forth. Easier to just talk on the phone. From a male POV women tend to use a lot of extra words. It's diplomatic/polite but guys don't always feel like writing all of that. Maybe I'm too busy at the time. And even if a guy starts writing a lot his woman could always hit him with, "I'm busy. why are you texting so much?" Because again, her mood matters. Guys don't like guessing what mood you are in from long distance/across town. Nah. We got better things to do.

Guys aren't as complicated as women. Women tend to want to think that the guy has some deep reason for everything he does. That's not it.
