I was talking to this guy who seemed amazing for a while. I knew about his situation. He was going through a separation. He told me all the things I wanted to hear and used me as a therapist. (red flag ik) We went on a date and it went well. He distanced himself and then told me he’s not ready for a relationship, that our conversations felt forced and that he’s not over his past relationship. And that he’s sorry for wasting my time. I’ve never been led on like this, and I can’t tell you how much it hurts. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I’m about ready to give up. i’ve never felt more humiliated and embarrassed. my eyes hurt from crying so hard

While it may hurt I don’t feel like he used you someone who used you would have never broke up and just played games stringing you along. He did break up even though it hurts maybe he genuinely thought he was ready or genuinely felt attraction but he figured out he wasn’t in a place where he is ready.

I will say that as time goes on two people should give one another emotional support but I do agree when it’s way too early on it can be problematic. Some people do unfortunately use someone as a therapist for a time the break up. I don’t know what his intentions are but allow yourself to grieve.

People can seem too good to be true and say anything they think you want to hear. If that’s the kind of person he is then he did you a favor by breaking it off. Because those people will make someone miserable. But I don’t know that’s the case to be honest Maybe he genuinely liked you but wasn’t ready.

Being led on by someone going through a separation, who used you as a therapist, gave you false hope, and then abruptly rejected you, is incredibly painful and invalidating. Allow yourself to grieve, practice self-compassion, set boundaries, focus on self-care, and remember that his actions reflect his issues, not your worth; time will heal, and you will find someone who values you.

@birdiebop7756233456 thing is... not just you. This happens to everyone all the time unfortunately. People are way too disconnected from themselves to still communicate their thoughts and needs exactly. Some just don't care to bother.
I'm sorry though... it happens a lot, unfortunately.

Dating someone who hasn't gotten over their previous relationship is a big guarantee that you will suffer, but this serves as a learning experience, you are young, stay calm, there are many nice guys out there.
