Would you ever apologize to an ex?

Here lately, I have been taking the time out to getting a better understanding of myself and just trying to move forward with life and I have come to rethink some things that may have happened in my past and not that it was a regret but I also think about my exand how everything kind of played out it ended on a amicable note but I think I felt like I needed to explain myself further, and I definitely could not put things into words at the time

Now talking it out with a friend, I realize that maybe I have hidden feelings for this person still and I cannot do anything about it

I really only felt the need to once. I dated a lady in grad school but it didn't work out. She was going through some personal issues and took it out on me and most of her friends. There was tension between us for a year. When graduation was nearing, she came over and made a sincere apology since we were graduating and she wanted to clear the air. I apologized for not being as understanding as I could have been. I really had to hand it to her for taking the effort to clear the air. Most people would not have done that.

If you think you did something that was wrong the right thing to do is apologize even if it's been years and years. If you haven't done anything harmful, mean or selfish to someone than there's not really anything to apologize for. So basically. Do you feel you did something wrong and there's your answer.

I just think if it’s only on my end to think or deal with or fill then it is my only issues so maybe it’s one of those things where I can feel how I feel but it’s not like it’s going to change your situation or anything like that, but maybe that’s just me

There are two I would like to apologize to, one in particular, but that's an old wound and there's no benefit to them in reopening it. What I would really like to do is send them a significant amount of money for the pain I caused, but I have no way to contact them.
