What would you do and say?

If I met someone I'd had a relationship with, the good times we had together would quickly spring to mind.
But there would also be caution too, remembering our partnership had ended.
My response to them would be similar, one of pleasure at meetings them, and caution, how would they react to me.
I would try to be friendly and concentrate on how she’s been and what she’s doing now. I wouldn’t bring up the relationship at all. It’s just as awkward for her
I would just smile and walk away, unless we ended things on a bad note, in that case... I'd just walk away. I prefer to keep people from my past in the past.
I see. In the case you describe, your exes haven't gotton over you and still cling to feelings they once had. That would lead to a situation that is awkward for you and possibly toxic.
Why would friends fall into that category? I fail to understand what would make someone want to end a friendship.
If I wasn't contacting him then I wasn't really interested
I'd treat it like a happy memory and move on with my life

Well if it's over it's over so no need for embarrassment I would think. So I'd just act neutral, say hi and be civil.
Would say hello and likely ask how they are doing!
I never had a love affair, so I don't really know.
All is fair in love and war, as the saying goes.
What are you doing later?
I would say hello.
How are you?
