I selected pounce. What about if you like someone and they really like you too but he/she is taken. Would you be ok with the person leaving the one for you?
Sure can't always pick the right one the first time around.
I doubt if that would matter to me. It's her choice. Just because someone is in a relationship doesn't obligate them to stay in it. Relationships are experiments in finding the right fit. If you know that you don't want to spend your life with that person, you move on.
To clarify, I never pursued a woman who was in a relationship. But if they pursued me and I liked them, I went for it.
And, per the question, if I liked her and heard that she and her partner broke up, that would be an open door to make a move.
Thanks for the mho
@exitseven I really don't know ow guy code. If the relationship was failing, it wouldn't matter to me as long as we connect.
I would pounce. You snooze , you lose.

Pouncing makes you an opportunistic vulture and rebound relationships rarely lead anywhere.
Snooze ya loose lol
That’s wrong. I’ll give them space or time to heal. I don’t want to be anyone’s rebound or crying shoulder especially if I am attracted to them. Nah.
This actually happened to me recently and I rejected this guys advances because it seemed like their break up was more like a break and he was doing behaviors that specify that he’s unsure if he still wanted that relationship
Why wait? Go for it. She'll let you know if it's too soon or not.
I'd need to be sure she is over her exes
This is tricky. You got to consider the following:
I see no harm in letting them know you se interested. But after that let them take it from there.
Definitely pounce. I get the whole "needing time to get over somebody". I've been there. But also life's short and there's no reason you can't position yourself to be her next ex-boyfriend.
LOL.
depends on the terms of their breakup. was it a long time coming or urgent. had they been together a long time or was it a short relationship.
if it were a longer relationship i'd give them some time to get over it for both their and my benefit. however if i knew that they had been over the relationship for a while before they actually ended things perhaps i'd tentatively make some in-roads
but if it was a short relationship that ended i'd probably feel fine just making my move
Wait. I have a ladyfriend who's been broken up over a year now and she's f***ing out of her mind about it still. She's dated 2 different guys and all I hear is how obsessive she is about it still. I don't know how her current boyfriend tolerates it. She's really starting to aggravate me with her disrespect for his feelings.
It's OK to still be dealing with pain from a breakup. But if you're still going to pieces everytime you see that person, YOU'RE NOT READY TO DATE. Guys, have more respect for yourself than to tolerate this.
Kinda both?
I'd wait for them to seem ready for contact, establish a friendship, then as soon as I feel like they're ready I'll ask to date.
I might be ready, but if they just got out of a relationship, some time is needed.
Also depends on whether or not they're a rebound type.
I believe that this a heavily age-divided question. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just think that the answers will be skewed, age wise.
I would imagine that most young people would be more inclined to let a bit of time pass after a breakup than older people might.
I'm 64. I'm not getting any younger.
I'd try to evaluate a situation as well as I can and then make a decision as to whether I would "pounce" or let things settle for a while.
As she already broke up I would try to catch her directly in that phase. Some women do not like being alone and will appreciate the attention. If you wait until she is officially looking for a partner she may line up a string of candidates and competition may be a lot more intense.
In fact, this can be extended to women who are nominally still in a relationship, but already about to break up. No need to wait.
If I liked her, I wouldn't wait around for someone else to grab her. I'd pounce. I wouldn't second guess about where her head was at. I'd leave it up to her. And if I wanted her, I'd take rebound and make her forget all about that ass hole.
In my teens, a couple of my girlfriends left their boyfriends for me. All's fair in love and war.
Wait, but to be honest most people who don't wait are the ones who end up in relationships - now the quality of those relationships may be questionable, but it is what it is, I guess...
See which one is preferable for you - quantity or quality.
I think I might try to console them, but I certainly would not express my interest in them immediately and perhaps not ever. That's too much pressure and it feels too much like taking advantage of their distress for me to feel comfortable doing that. I also want to take care of myself in that I don't need to be a transitional object or a rebound.
pounce on them as you know someone else will that dosent know what their situation is. but that being said, not too quickly and not to full on, give a bit of space and let your intentions be known
Everyone's different about grief over a breakup. A person is more likely to remember how rudely you bum rushed them and how miserably thirsty you were than if you waited weeks or a few months for you to collect yourself and get past a breakup.
I would wait as you don’t want to be a rebound. Plus if they got broken up then that can take a little bit of time. Half the time I don’t know though. My crush never talked about another girl, or girlfriend, and I don’t see anything on social media. So I don't know, but overall, I’d wait.
Sure you have to wait, Cause in other way you will live in (her/his) old partner's shadow...
You have to wait.. but also not too much there's also a limit don't let anyone else take (her/him) of you again... So whenever you see her/him ready to start dating again you have to be there and be the obvious choice..
And I wish you good luck 🙏
I would wait because if they aren´t over their ex it´s too much of a risk since they might not be ready for another relationship. Because if I don´t wait it could lead to me getting hurt, too.
Strike while the iron is hot and they are still looking for a replacement, take advantage of their grief! LOLOLO
Kidding Coach... I would probably not get involved
This happened to me.
I was ready to pounce but then I came to know he's a smoker. So I left.
Nobodies that good, lol.
But rebound partners can be a "project" for the inexperienced, and you're best to stay clear unless you know what you're doing.
Life is too short to let opportunities pass you by. Act now, or you might regret it later.
I had a crush on someone years ago. When we met she was seeing someone. I didn't realise they had broken up till I heard they had a date lined up with someone new. They've now been married to that guy for nearly 20 years.
You won't always have the ideal opportunity. You should at least let it be known you're interested, and that when they're ready you'd like to go on a date.
A few men did that to me who were friends with my boyfriend. They hit me up after a year, “so ur still with him?”
Time waits for nobody. She might not wait for you either. It doesn't hurt to ask her. Some douche bag from the bar might be her rebound, might as well be your hose she's hopping on next Friday night.
Usually depends on basic desires vs needs but I would wait to see signs of mental stability before I approached her.
I’d go get ‘em. I remember waiting once back in college and I was too late!
Pounce on the chance for probably the best 🍆
no i dont wanna be a rebound, i would wait like i have in my situation now
I chose I would wait, but honestly, I wouldn’t say anything. There’s a huge chance he wouldn’t like me back. So I just move on and hope he can find someone else.
I think its half of each. If you were to say to them "I am going to let you know I like you but I know you are not ready to move on" it would definitely mean that person is out the friend zone / a potential...
I'd probably give them some time to get over the person before taking a chance
I guess it would depend on how the person was handling the breakup.
Am very patient. So. I would definitely wait.
If I just want to bang her then why wait. If I think she might be a keeper then I will give her some time.
I would definitely wait. I wouldn't want to be with someone who's still thinking about somebody else. Simple.
I don't think I would pounce, but, I would let her know if she ever wanted to go out sometime, I would be interested. Whenever she was ready.
Just pounce - it is much safer to pounce than to wait. There are far more deaths every year with people who wait to see a doctor than pouncing deaths. Therefore, medically speaking, pouncing is the better option.
Depends. I might go for it right after if I am really attracted to her.
If you pounce, that person might think you’re desperate. Not a good idea if you ask me.
it depends on the perdon because some people are not ready to date after a breakup but if the person isfine then why not.
I'd Probably Pounce with Care. He may Return for her Yearn. xxoo
quick, do not miss opportunity. reference ted in how i met your mother who missed.
I would wait a bit until she was ready for another relationship
Wait, or I'll end up getting used or something.
Or I pounce, but not really, I just befriend him, I want to get to know him first anyway.
I do not know. If she is taken I mentally mark her as off-limits, so she'd have to tell me that she was now free. If that happened and I was interested I would ask her out.
I would go in for the kill
sometimes I act like I'm kinda easy and through a ball games
I would actually pounce but I would absolutely reach out.
They need to know your intentions so when they are ready you may get a chance
Neither. I'm not waiting on the bench for someone that's in a relationship. I don't go after unavailable women, that's desperate.
Frankly, maybe this will be a bit of opportunism, but there is nothing to do, no one belongs to someone as they were born from their mother, we fill positions like public personnel. jgugghuh
Definitely wait. I’m not interested in being nobodies rebound. Been there (unintentionally through lies), never again.
Depends, probably pounce immediately but take it slow.
I'm actually waiting for one guy right now to break up with the bitch he's with. Best dick I've ever had. Don't want his love just want him sexually. 🤷🏽♀️
Wait because I was the victim of a rebound before. It didn't end well.
I would give them time to heal. I think that's the chivalrous thing to do.
Strike while the Iron is HOT , immediate.
Bro women are emotional creatures. Give her a shoulder to cry on. Pretend you care. Slowly win her over until she lets you hit it. Then ghost her. It’s actually pretty easy.
