Ex contacts me on Facebook with friend request?

My ex boyfriend whom broke up with me a year and a half ago recently sent me a fb friend request. Since our break up he would always wish me a happy birthday but I would never say anything expect a simple "thanks and how are you?" When I got the request I asked him why he re-added me when I deleted him after the break-up and that he would never answer any of the response messages I sent when he messaged me on my birthday. He was all nice to me asking how I was and saying that he wasn't ignoring me but that he might not gotten any messages since my birthday last year (which I never sent any) because of his privacy settings and that he would send me a screen shot to prove that he wasn't lying. I sent him a brief message answering him on what I've been up to like starting school and he answered back saying he was so happy I got into the program I wanted and told me what was new with him.

I was very hurt when we broke up as he was my first real boyfriend but I've dated other guys afterward so I really don't have any strong feelings for him but I feel comfortable talking to him as we were friends prior to being in a relationship. Plus the reason why we broke up was because we were both in a state of transition at that point in our lives. Should I accept the request and could him contacting and re-adding me on fb possibly mean he is becoming interested in me again or is he just trying to be civil?

We kept comunicating back and forth through fb and evenually text messaging and ended up meeting for coffee. We talked for about an hour and a half and when we were saying goodbye he mentioned getting together again and doing something together. I ended up accepting his friend request. Is this a possible sign of him being interested in me again?

After all that, we've been back together since September and everything is going strong. I found that our relationship is actually better than when we were first together. He is much more affectionate and comfortable with our relationship. Life can be crazy sometimes.

its obviously down to you on what you do and it's clear that he still feels something for you, even if its not in a boyfriend type way he still feels you are a really nice girl to have in his life. He may also have been feeling a lot of guilt for the way you 2 broke up. What you have done is moved on from the heartache you experienced from this guy but yet have managed to remain civil towards him. I would say that if you are comfortable in having him as a distant friend and no more, you don't mind him knowing about your current life and friends, then add him on. But if you want closure on the chapter of life you experienced with him and have just moved on, you don't really need him in your life anymore, then you don't need to explain anything to him and just ignore his request. Remember that he is the one feeling the guilt deep inside and you are strong girl that has moved on, so whatever you do, do not feel guilty about anything. Make the decision that you feel is right in your heart.

Yes it's possible but it could also be him showing you respect that he lacked before and therefore trying to redeem himself and also show you he's sorry for mistreating you. Pease do all this with caution and DO NOT expect him to want anything more. The last thing you want is to get hurt again so make sure you go with the flow, remain just friends for now, do not get eager and jump at the chance to be with him again unless you are 100% sure he's changed and is right for you. I know you have feelings for him but always remember the hurt you encountered and learn from your experience.

It sounds like he's just being civil. But if you don't have any feelings for him, lay down some boundary lines within yourself, and if you see anything that changes with him, then talk to him. Communication is the key to everything. A lot of people ask these sorts of questions, and I believe to be the outcome, and the easiest way to deal with this aspect in your life is to just discuss with him what your feeling, and be honest, kinda plain and simple. I guess it comes down to, "don't make an ant hill out of an mole hill.

It MIGHT mean he's interested in you again. But this is Facebook we're talking about. People add everyone for no reason what-so-ever. Don't read too much into it.

No I'm still keeping my distance from him, but I might consider adding him just not sure if the time is right.
