I am going through withdrawal from my ex, how do I stop the desire to contact him?

I know I deserve more, and it's best to move on. I am just so scared of finding worst. I haven't been lucky when it comes to love and relationships.

I think a lot of the urge to contact ex's, especially with females, is that urge to have a buddy to talk to who understands you on a deep level. You realize there is a void from someone like that so like a drug, you relapse by contacting the very person who used to fill that void, your ex.

What you need to do is keep busy and spend lots of time with friends and family. When you're idle and alone, that is when you are going to get bored, your mind is going to wander, and your going to long for someone to talk to to curve your boredom. You'll invariably reach for the phone and start texting him.

If you are instead spending time with friends and family, you'll already have someone right there who you know and trust that you can talk to so you no longer will need to talk to your ex instead. Plus simply keeping busy and amongst other people will take your mind off of your ex. You'll be too busy to think about him.

This can all be hard to do at first. Your likely depressed (even if acute) and as a result have no motivation to do anything. Do your best to force yourself into doing things and hanging out with your friends and soon you'll slowly snap out of it. Just realize that the saying "time heals all wounds", is actually quite true when it comes to ex's. It maybe take a while, but usually after at least a year or so, you've almost completely forgotten about your ex.

The thing is, you have to stop looking for a relationship for a while. When a guy comes and you feel a natural connection go ahead and date him if he asks you on a date. Don't date every guy who asks you. And do something else, I mean if you work, work... if you study, study... if you go to the gym go...just stop thinking about having a relationship for a while, and when it comes naturally (not with you looking for it) then take it. What I mean if a guy comes to you and asks you out, don't go out just to take the other out of your mind, it won't work. If a guy who you feel a connection with comes, then go ahead, you won't think in your old boyfriend naturally, not because you distracted yourself but because you are living your life naturally and it just comes off. Don't do stuf to forget him, just go with the pain naturally it will come of, just let it sting , let all your feelings come out, cry, be mad...etc and then move on. Believe me after you let it all out, you can easily move one naturally. By the way don't over do the feelings thing, I don't mean cry for a week, take a day of time, and let it all out, with a friend or alone, I would recomend alone, one day for yourself and clean up. The just live your life for you and not to forget him

i know this is very hard because you start missing him and just feel like giving up and going back to them but really what you need to do is keep yourself busy or talk to friends to keep your mind off of him. and if you know you deserve better is because you know you do and you need to remind yourself why do yo deserve better and it will make you not want to talk to him.

you are still young,but you can weed out the bad seeds by taking things slow and the moment you see something you don't like,walk,know your boundaries and don't settle for less or you will continue this pattern,pay attention to the ones who care about you and don't chase the ones who don't

the best way I have found to get over an ex is to keep yourself busy, no matter if its hanging with friends or going to parties or whatever it is... it helps to keep your mind off him, flirt with some hotties but don't commit yourself until your truly ready... good luck :)

You'll never find worse if you learn from your past. That just doesn't happen. Judging by your short question, it seems you haven't dated so much, hence your reluctance to believe your dating adventure's will be fruitful. Don't dwell. Avoid your ex by remembering your worth, and learning to realize that a happy life doesn't necessarily revolve around a boyfriend. Learn to love life, yourself including, and the rest will fall in place.

Concentrate on things which is more important for you, have a new friends. try to forget what happend in the past, start thinking about what is best to do in the futyre. That's my POV
