Why is my ex boyfriend ignoring me all of a sudden? He said he will always love me and nows he's ignoring me!!

Ok so my ex and I have been together on and off for 2 years. We recently broke up about a month ago because we were fighting a lot. Last Monday he told me he has a new girlfriend,he said he's not too sure about her but he still wants to remain friends with me. I told him OK whatever..I didn't take it that seriously because I know it's a rebound relationship and they never work. Plus he has done this once before and he came back to me. The only reason I've stuck around is because I love him so much. Besides that though..On Friday two days ago!..he told me he will always love me and nobody could take my place in his heart and if were meant to be we will be at the end of the day...but for now he wants to remain friends. I'm extremely confused because two days ago he said all that to me and I tried texting him today and he has ignored me all day...I just don't get it. Is he confused on what he wants and wants some time alone?. Why is he ignoring me?...any thoughts on why he may be doing this please help.

"I will always love you" doesn't mean "I will always be in love with you." It means you are important to him, but this doesn't necessarily mean romantically. Don't wait around for him to want you again - that's setting yourself up for heartbreak. Figuring out his intentions is pretty close to impossible, but if we just take him at face value that he cares about you that much, maybe he feels like he needs some space from you right now to figure out things with his new relationship. You might be convinced it's a rebound, but he might really want to try making it work.

Give him some time and space. If you push it too hard, you're going to end up pushing him away. Stop trying to contact him for now. He'll come to you when he's ready.

Assuming that he's just rebounding and waiting for him to come back is unhealthy for you. Take some time outside of the relationship to live your life, and maybe evaluate why you guys fought so much.

Thank you for your advice. I definitely will give him some space. Last time he did this to me, he did ignored me sometimes. But he didn't exactly say I'll always love you..he said " I love you and I won't ever stop loving you". I don't know if that makes a difference lol.

Rebound relationships DO work sometimes. I was a rebound, and now we're engaged, so don't get a head of yourself on that one. He has a new girlfriend, and although he will always love you and you can't be replaced, that doesn't mean he won't ever love another girl. I'll always love my ex and he can't be replaced, what we had is special and unique to us, but he wasn't my forever. Give him his space, let him enjoy the new relationship, maybe look to keep yourself occupied doing some things for yourself that don't involve the ex. He's probably ignoring you because that's being respectful to his new GF, whom he's trying to build some rapport with. Typically, when people break up and get back together, that doesn't work out. A rebound has a better shot of working out than the couple that break up 5 times a year.

True they do work out SOMETIMES...but for him they don't. I know this because he has done this once before and he did tend to ignore me the last time too. Last time he did this he only stayed with the girl for 3 weeks. He might just be busy and hence hasn't had time to reply. But regardless of that, what you should do is ignoring him. I really dislike how he seems play these games and attempts to keep you on the back burner. The best you can do right now is live your own life and try to forget about him. He sounds very immature to me and probably needs a lot of time to grow up and figure out what he wants. It may be you, but it may be someone else. If it's you, you should not wait and waste your time for him to come to this conclusion.

Yeah your right. I do feel as though I'm his 2nd option. I don't know though,because he last time he did this to me, he only stayed with the girl for a few weeks and he broke up with her because I told him I can no longer be friends with him because I couldn't handle it knowing he had a girlfriend. See, that's the thing. If you keep letting people get away with a certain kind of behavior , they are likely to continue this behavior . You have to show him that you're not his toy and aren't willing to tolerate his whims. It's bad enough he did that to you once, but twice is totally unacceptable. I hope things work out for you. But he probably has a lot of growing up to do and I'm convinced you can find someone who's better to/for you.

Your absolutely right. Since I posted this we hve spoken. He said he wasn't ignoring me he was just busy with school. He's in school for nursing, so he has to study alot. So I completely understand whyhe didn't reply. But lately he has been playing mind games with me.he keeps telling me how much he loves me yet he still has a girlfriend. I think he meant what he said "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU" this does not mean he will always be in love with you. Two very different things nothing to be confused about stop trying to contact him and you too may find your own happiness
