Is it bad when a guy breaks eye contact first?

So guys say you were walking along the street when you lock eyes with a girl for 2 seconds opposite you...what would be the reason why you look away first but instead of looking down which is a sign of submission you look away to the side.

Apart from being shy what else could be the reason.

This happened to me at work with a guy who works near me. He appears confident and I had spoken to him once before. I locked eyes with him to say hello (I also find him attractive) but he looked away first, so I looked away as well. Is this a sign of disinterest when guys do that?

it can be two things. either disinterested or has low confidence with interest.

to find out if its low confidence with low interest, try to catch him staring at you or checking you, then see how he reacts. if he looks down immediately, then he's shy and is interested, but doesn't want to seem creepy.

honestly for me, I'm pretty shy but when it comes to eye contact, I try to hold my eye contact if its a female I'm attracted to. it tells them that I'm not intimidated by them and I'm confident in myself.
